For instance, Sony announced in 2020 that it would be recording all PlayStation voice chats on a rolling basis of five minutes. This move aims to help the company better identify and investigate reported incidents.

Roblox has also taken steps to ensure a safer gaming environment by informing users that it records voice chats and maintains these recordings for seven days unless there is a complaint filed. The platform encourages players to report any offensive behavior they encounter, providing a mechanism to submit up to 40-second clips of the incident to its moderation team.

Riot Games, the developer behind Valorant, has also taken a similar approach by beginning to record voice chats in July 2022. This move aims to better monitor communication channels for toxic behavior and investigate reported incidents more effectively.
